Privacy policy

Last updated: October 2026

This policy explains what personal data BunkHouse collects through this website, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have over it. It applies to https://bnkhseuk.com.

What we collect

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and whatever you tell us in your message. When you book a room through our booking widget, your booking details are collected and processed by Mews — our booking and property management system provider — on our behalf, in accordance with Mews' own privacy policy.

Why we collect it

We use contact form submissions to respond to your enquiry, and booking data to manage your reservation, process payment, and provide your stay. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

Cookies and similar technologies

We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on this website. A few things are stored in your browser or loaded from other companies, so you know exactly what happens:

  • Notice preference. When you close the "under new management" notice, your browser remembers that for 20 days so it doesn't keep popping up. This stays in your browser and is never sent to us.
  • Booking window. When you open the booking window, Mews' booking software runs on the page and stores a few technical items in your browser (for example its settings and error diagnostics) so the booking works and stays secure. This is part of Mews' service; see Mews' privacy policy.
  • Fonts and maps. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, and the map on our Location and Contact pages is embedded from Google Maps, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. Google Maps may also set its own cookies.
  • Error reports. If something on this site breaks, your browser may send us a short technical report (the page, the error message and your browser type). It contains no personal details and is used only to fix problems.

CCTV

We operate CCTV at the property to keep guests, staff and the building safe and to help prevent and detect crime. Footage is stored securely, kept only for a limited period and then deleted, and is only shared with the police or other authorities where the law requires or allows it. You can ask for a copy of footage of yourself by contacting us.

Promo codes and offers

If you tick the box to receive promo codes, we keep your email address and use it only to send you promo codes and offers for future stays at BunkHouse. We never sell or share it. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any of our emails or contacting us at info@bnkhseuk.com, and we'll remove you straight away.

Who we share data with

We share booking data with Mews (our booking engine and PMS provider) in order to process your reservation. This website is hosted by Netlify, which also receives contact-form messages, promo-code sign-ups and error reports on our behalf, and keeps standard server logs. Fonts and maps come from Google, as described above. We may be required to share data with public authorities where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep contact form and booking enquiries for as long as reasonably needed to handle your enquiry or stay, and as required for accounting and legal purposes thereafter.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to request corrections, and to request deletion where applicable. To make a request, contact us at info@bnkhseuk.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
